Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

As we get older, skin can lose its natural plumpness, making the face appear gaunt and skin feel crepey. Dermal fillers are an effective long-term treatment that can help to minimise the appearance of:-

  • laughter lines
  • crow’s feet
  • frown lines
  • sunken cheeks
  • thin lips

They restore a fresher appearance with immediate results, and no down time.

At Clinica Aesthetics we use only Juvederm, a premium quality, FDA-approved dermal filler range derived from the hyaluronic acid found naturally in our skin.
These require no pre-testing as the product is so similar to the body’s own natural hyaluronic acid, and filler is placed directly into the required area with a micro-needle for instant effects which can last for between 6 and 18 months in some cases. The treatment usually takes 20-30 minutes, and is performed under topical and local anaesthetic to prevent discomfort during the procedure. Depending on the area being treated and degree of volume loss, a second session may be required to achieve the desired result.

In the past, so-called ‘permanent’ or ‘non re-absorbable’ collagen-based fillers often derived from pigs and cows were used; however, these commonly cause allergies and studies have proven that their effects can actually be shorter-lived than the newer hyaluronic acid based products, which are obtained from non-animal sources. Hyaluronic acid also improves the complexion by increasing the skin’s water content, improving its elasticity and restoring moisture. An additional benefit is that the effects of hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers can be reversed if require, although this is extremely rare.

Possible side effects include:-
